NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super: An Early Review

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super, launched in January 2024, has been a hot topic among tech enthusiasts and gamers. This article provides an early review of the card, discussing its performance, controversies, and discussions from Reddit and reputed tech outlets.

Early thoughts on the 4070 Ti Super, not impressed at all.

There have been some controversies surrounding the new Super GPU. One of the main points of contention is the naming of the card, which some users found confusing. Additionally, there were criticisms about the original RTX 4070 Ti’s specs and high prices. The Super variant seems to address these issues by offering more cores and memory at the same price point. However, the original RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4080 have been removed from Nvidia’s current GPU lineup, which has raised some eyebrows.

Tech Jesus at the 4070 Ti Super

RTX 4070 Ti Super Performance Overview

The RTX 4070 Ti Super is equipped with more cores and memory than the original RTX 4070 Ti. It uses the AD103 silicon, which is the same as that found in the RTX 4080. This results in a 10% increase in CUDA cores compared to the original RTX 4070 Ti. It also boasts the same 64 MB L2 cache as the 4080, a significant 33% increase over the 4070 Super and Ti models.

The new super upgrades to a 256-bit wide memory bus, allowing for a 16GB VRAM capacity. With a higher clocked 22.4 Gbps memory, it achieves a memory bandwidth of 717 GB/s – a massive 42% improvement. These upgrades should enable the 4070 Ti Super to more effectively compete with the Radeon RX 7900 XT. The RTX 4070 Ti Super delivers impressive performance at 1440p and solid performance at 4K, especially with DLSS 3.0 enabled.

In Daniel’s video comparing the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super and the RTX 4070 Ti, viewers shared a range of opinions and observations:

  • Price Concerns: A common concern among viewers was the high price of the RTX 4070 Ti Super. Some viewers noted that graphics cards of this caliber used to be much more affordable.
  • Performance Comparison: Viewers compared the RTX 4070 Ti Super to other cards, with some expressing satisfaction with their AMD Radeon RX 7900XTX Hellhound. It was also pointed out that the new SUPER models have more RT and Tensor cores, which contributes to better RT results.
  • Speculation on Silicon Quality: There was speculation that the 4070 Ti Super might be using lower quality AD103 silicon bins, making it not as close to the 4080 as initially suggested by the specs.
  • VRAM and Resolution: The significant change with the Super variant, according to some viewers, is its suitability for higher than 1440p resolutions. The double VRAM on the 4070 Ti Super compared to older models like the 3070 FE 8GB was appreciated.
  • General Feedback: Viewers appreciated Daniel’s detailed reviews and quick release of the video. Performance improvements due to the larger VRAM size, higher bandwidth, and increased CUDA cores were discussed.
  • MSI Ventus 4070 TI Super (OC) Series: There were reports of performance issues with the MSI Ventus 4070 TI Super (OC) series, which only boosts up to 2600 GHz in games.

On Reddit, users have been discussing the performance and specs of the RTX 4070 Ti Super. Some users have expressed their anticipation for the card, while others have shared their thoughts on the card’s performance. Tech outlets like TechSpot, TechPowerUp, and TechRadar have published detailed reviews of the RTX 4070 Ti Super, discussing its performance, specs, and value.

RTX 4070 Super Overclocking Potential

From the data provided by TechPowerUp, the ASUS GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super TUF demonstrates considerable overclocking potential. The card is factory overclocked to reach GPU Boost speeds of up to 2550 MHz, compared to the 2475 MHz reference. In performance tests conducted using Unigine Heaven and 3DMark Time Spy GT1, the actual 3D performance gain from overclocking was 5.5% and 4.8% respectively. However, it’s important to note that all NVIDIA graphics cards, including this one, have a power limit defined in the BIOS.

This power limit regulates power draw by adjusting Boost frequencies, which means that while the card has overclocking potential, the actual performance gain is controlled by the card’s power limit.

RTX 4070 Ti Super Pricing in India

There are a few listings available right now, as of January 26th 2024, and they are not looking good, you are way off better purchasing the regular 4070 Ti model.

The availability and pricing of new graphics cards can vary based on numerous factors, including region, demand, and supply chain dynamics. Rest assured, once the information becomes available, I will provide an update. Please stay tuned for more information.
