Samsung Exynos 2400: Doubling GPU Clock Speed – A Glimpse into Performance Leaks

As of now, there are rumors circulating about the Exynos 2400, particularly about its GPU, the Xclipse 940. It is said that the Xclipse 940 offer twice the clockspeed of the Xclipse 920 found on the Exynos 2200

Mobile technology has been the cornerstone of technological innovation in the 21st century. From the first smartphones to the latest AI-powered devices, mobile technology has transformed the way we live, work, and communicate. Over time, indeed, Samsung has made significant strides in enhancing its Exynos lineup since the days of the Galaxy S6. The company has consistently pushed the boundaries of mobile processing power, introducing new features and technologies with each iteration. From improved energy efficiency to superior graphics performance, each new Exynos chipset has brought something new to the table.

The introduction of custom Mongoose cores, for instance, was a major milestone that significantly boosted CPU performance. Samsung also formed a strategic partnership with AMD to enhance the GPU performance of its Exynos chipsets, a move that has paid off with the Xclipse 920 and the rumored Xclipse 940.

Looking ahead, Samsung seems poised to continue this trend of innovation and improvement. With rumors of the Exynos 2400 already creating a buzz, it’s clear that Samsung’s commitment to advancing mobile technology remains as strong as ever. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Exynos lineup.

As of now, rumors are circulating about the Exynos 2400, particularly about its GPU. It’s speculated that the Xclipse 940 might have double the number of computing units compared to its predecessor, the Xclipse 920. However, it’s important to note that having double the compute units does not necessarily mean it will be twice as fast.

The Samsung Exynos 2400 is a 10-core chipset. It has 1 core Cortex-X4 at 3100 MHz, 2 cores Cortex-A720 at 2900 MHz, 3 cores Cortex-A720 at 2600 MHz, and 4 cores Cortex-A520 at 1800 MHz.

The Xclipse 920 was only able to operate at 555MHz, while the Exynos 2400’s Xclipse 940 was reported to be operating at 1095MHz

Specification details shared by @LaidBackDev_ suggest that the GPU can run at 1095MHz thanks to the 940’s improved RDNA3 architecture. Just to refresh your memory, the Xclipse 920 operated at 555MHz, so there was a noticeable distinction between the two. The Xclipse 940 has six compute units, the same as its predecessor, but other than that, they are identical. Another thing to consider is the GPU memory, which you may have overlooked.

The Xclipse 940, similar to its predecessor the Xclipse 920, is reported to come with 4GB of VRAM. Considering the current landscape of mobile gaming, it’s believed that 4GB should be ample to support the most recent games with ray tracing activated. However, it’s worth mentioning that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max seem to have an advantage in this area. During a previous run of Resident Evil Village, it was discovered that both of these Apple models boast 6GB of dedicated video memory, a feature that becomes crucial when aiming for higher visual settings.

The enhanced clock speeds certainly enable the Xclipse 940 to extract more performance, as shown in previous benchmarks. When pitted against the proficient Adreno 750 from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the Xclipse 940 equaled the scores in the OpenCL test of Geekbench 6, while being only 10 percent slower in the Vulkan run. It’s worth noting that GPUs can frequently operate at boosted clock speeds, but this varies from one application to another. Therefore, if the Xclipse 940 can sustain these figures in most applications, we are confident that it will deliver outstanding performance.

The Samsung Exynos 2400 is a chipset that is expected to be announced in the future. As of now, there are no official details available about this chipset. Any information circulating on the internet could be based on rumors or leaks, and may not be accurate. It’s always best to wait for official announcements from Samsung for the most reliable information. If you would like to read my other articles about the Exynos series, click here.
